How to clean a custom brass stamp for leather embossing and wood branding? 2024 Update

Cleaning a brass leather stamp or branding iron requires only a few simple steps:

  1. First, use a soft-bristled brush or an old toothbrush to remove any loose debris or dust from the surface of the stamp.

  2. Next, mix a solution of warm water and mild soap in a bowl or container. Dip the brush into the solution and gently scrub the surface of the stamp. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the brass.

  3. Rinse the stamp with clean water and use a soft cloth to dry it off. Make sure to remove any remaining soap residue.

  4. If there are still stubborn stains or debris on the stamp, you can try using a brass polish or a mixture of vinegar and salt. Apply the polish or mixture with a soft cloth and rub gently until the stain is removed. Rinse with clean water and dry the stamp.
